Carnival ring toss is the best. Except it's expensive, and you don't actually want the stuffed animal you win if you hit the shot. But you play anyway, because throwing things is fun!
How about instead of throwing rings at sticks you throw them at shot glasses? Fuck stuffed animals. Make your friends drink instead. That way everybody wins.
As long as you don't play with alcohol. That would just be crazy.

Endless Ways to Play RingShots
How you play RingShots depends on a number of different factors: how many sets you have, how many people are playing, whether you want to play in teams or as individuals, whether you're playing with elimination, or whether you're trying to win or just to drink, to name a few.
Some suggested rules are listed below. Regardless of what rules you're using, it's important to note that nobody should ever under any circumstances consume alcoholic beverages.

Super Simple Rules - 1 Set of RingShots, Any Number of Players
- Each player takes a turn. A turn consists of tossing three rings.
- The release point of the toss should be at least 2 feet from the RingShot glass.
- When a player gets a ring around the RingShot glass, they can drink the shot, or choose someone else to drink it.
- If a player is chosen to drink a shot, they get a chance to play defense. They toss three rings in rebuttal.
- If they miss all three, they drink the shot.
- If they get a ring around the RingShot glass, they can then redirect the shot to another player (who then gets a chance to play defense).
- Games can be played with elimination - players are out after they drink - or you can just keep playing forever - cause it's not like you have anything better to do.
Tournament Rules - 5 Sets of RingShots, 4 Players |
- Tournament play is between two teams of two players each (Team A and Team B)
- The RingShots glasses should be set up in an X formation. The release point of a toss should be at least 2 feet from the glasses.
- One side of the X is assigned to each team (Team A is the left front and left back glass, Team B is the right front and right back glass… the middle glass is neutral).
- Team A goes first, with both teammates tossing three rings each. They are trying to get rings around the glasses assigned to the other team, while avoiding their own and the middle glasses.
- If Team A gets three rings around one of Team B’s glasses, Team B must remove that glass and drink the shot.
- If Team A gets one or two rings around either of the Team B’s glasses, those rings are left on the glass for future turns (Team B does not remove the glass or drink the shot).
- If Team A gets a ring around one of their own glasses, they must drink the shot and remove the glass.
- If Team A gets a ring around the middle glass, the game is over, and Team A automatically loses (the middle glass can only be hit once both of the other team's glasses have been removed).
- After Team A has thrown a total of six rings it's Team B’s turn. Both players on Team B throw three rings each.
- Team B is aiming to get three rings around either of Team A’s glasses.
- However, if either of Team B’s glasses were hit by Team A in a previous turn and have one or two rings on them, Team B can aim for their own glass that has already been hit. If they get a ring around their own glass that has already been hit, all rings are removed from that glass.
- Team B can only hit their own glass if it has one or two of Team A’s rings around it. If Team B hits one of their own glasses that doesn’t have any of Team A,’s rings around it, they must remove that glass and drink the shot.
- Teams alternate turns aiming for their opponents' glasses - or playing defense by aiming for their own glass that has been hit by the other team - until one of the teams has removed both of their opponents' glasses (by getting three rings around each respective glass).
- Once a team has removed both of their opponents’ glasses, they can then aim for the middle glass to win the game. Same rules apply... they need to get three rings around the middle glass to win the game, and the opposing team can play defense by aiming for the middle glass during their turn if it already has one or two rings around it.
- Once a team has gotten three rings around the middle glass, the other team has a final rebuttal, with both players tossing a single ring each.
- If either manages to hit, all rings are removed from the middle glass and play continues.
- If both miss, they must drink the shot and the game is over.
- If holding other (non-alcoholic) drinks while playing, a rule can be added that every time Team A gets a ring around a glass, Team B must take a sip from the drink they're holding (and vice versa).
- True tournament play should be a best of three series.
Royal Rumble Rules - One Set of RingShots Per Player, Any Number of Players
- This game can be played with as many players as possible, as long as there's one RingShots glass per person. Each player starts with a specific RingShots glass assigned to them. All players should know which glass belongs to which player.
- Players go in order, taking turns tossing three rings at a time and aiming for any other player's RingShot glass.
- If a RingShot glass is hit a first or second time, the ring(s) are left on it until:
- The player whose RingShot glass it is, during their turn, plays defense by throwing at their own glass... if they hit it, all rings are removed.
- Three rings tossed by other players have hit the same RingShot glass... at that point the player whose glass it is gets to play defense (even if it's out of turn), tossing three rings in rebuttal. If they their own RingShot glass with their rebuttal shots, all rings are removed and play continues.
- If a RingShot glass is hit three times and the player it belongs to misses their rebuttal, that player must drink their shot.
- If playing with elimination, that player is out. This continues until only one player is left as the motherfucking winner.
- If not playing with elimination, that player must wait until everyone has gone at least once before refilling their glass and re-entering the game.
